When Pain Doesn’t Respond the Way It Should

A screening to determine whether shockwave therapy is an appropriate next step.

If you’ve tried rest, physical therapy, injections, or “giving it time” — and things still haven’t fully settled — you’re not doing anything wrong.

At this stage, the issue is often not effort or compliance. It’s that the tissue itself isn’t getting the signal it needs to heal.

Shockwave therapy is one of the tools we use when pain has become persistent and traditional approaches haven’t been enough.

It works by delivering targeted mechanical energy to stubborn tissue, helping restart a stalled healing response.

This evaluation may be appropriate if:

  • Pain has been present for several months or longer
  • The issue keeps returning despite rehab or treatment
  • You’ve already “done the right things” but haven’t fully turned the corner
  • You want to know whether shockwave makes sense before committing to treatment

This is likely not appropriate if:

  • The injury is acute (recent strain, sprain, or tear)
  • You’re looking for a quick fix or one-time solution
  • You’re primarily shopping for the lowest price
  • You’re not open to a multi-session approach if indicated

What Happens During a Shockwave Evaluation

This is not a sales appointment, and not every evaluation results in shockwave treatment.

During the evaluation, we review your history, assess the tissue involved, and determine whether shockwave therapy is appropriate — or whether another approach makes more sense.
